Amazon and Apple fined $218 million by Spain antitrust watchdog

Spain’s antitrust controller has forced fines worth a sum of €194.1 million ($218 million) on Amazon and Apple for conniving to confine rivalry on the Amazon site in Spain.

The two agreements the organizations endorsed on October 31, 2018, conceding Amazon the situation with approved Apple vendor, included enemy of serious provisos that impacted the web-based market for electronic gadgets in Spain, CNMC, as the guard dog is known, said in an explanation Tuesday.

Apple was fined €143.6 million ($161.4 million) and Amazon €50.5 million ($56.7 million). The two organizations have two months to pursue the choice.
