Apple will release an iPhone 12 update in France after sales were suspended due to radiation concerns.

(Qnnflash) — Apple intends to release a software update for iPhone 12 owners in France in response to the regulatory authorities’ directive to temporarily halt sales of the 2020 model due to concerns regarding radiation.

A software update will be released specifically for customers located in France in order to incorporate the protocol mandated by regulatory authorities in France. According to a spokesperson from Apple (AAPL), there is anticipation for the continued availability of the iPhone 12 in France.

Due to the iPhone 12’s non-compliance with the established European radiation exposure thresholds, the National Frequency Agency of France (ANFR) has instructed the French market to remove it right away. The ANFR has additionally determined that Apple is required to implement “all requisite remedial actions to promptly ensure compliance” for iPhone 12s now in circulation, or else initiate a product recall.

According to Apple, the decision to suspend sales was attributed to “a particular testing protocol employed by French regulators, rather than being driven by safety concerns.”

According to Apple, the iPhone 12 has obtained certification and acknowledgement for its compliance with all relevant SAR legislation and standards worldwide since its introduction in 2020.

According to the French regulatory authority, the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is a metric that quantifies the rate at which the human body absorbs energy from the source under examination. However, experts and authorities agree that there is no reason to be concerned.

According to a statement made by France’s minister for the digital economy, Jean-Noel Barrot, on the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter), Apple has confirmed its commitment to provide an update for the iPhone 12 in the next few days, following discussions and at the request of the ANFR (Agence Nationale des Fréquences Radioélectriques).

The French regulatory authority is making preparations for prompt testing of this update, with the ultimate objective of aligning the model with the European standards implemented in France. This alignment will thereafter enable Apple to recommence its sales activities in the country.

The cessation of sales occurred concurrently with Apple’s introduction of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, the latest revisions of its renowned product, during the company’s annual keynote event in California.
