Inter Miami goes to the League Cup Final thanks to a goal from Lionel Messi, his ninth in six games.

Within a mere month of joining Inter Miami, the esteemed Argentine footballer Lionel Messi has already propelled his team to unprecedented achievements.

Miami progressed to the final of the CONCACAF Leagues Cup following a decisive 4-1 triumph against Philadelphia Union on Tuesday. This achievement has the club in a favorable position to secure its inaugural championship after four seasons of participation in the competition.

Lionel Messi has demonstrated exceptional performance since his arrival at Inter, having scored a total of nine goals in a span of six games. Notably, he has managed to find the back of the net in every single match he has played, so securing the leading position on the scoring chart of the Leagues Cup.

Within a brief span of a few weeks at Inter Miami, Messi has swiftly ascended to the third position on the club’s historical scoring roster, trailing only 20 goals behind his compatriot Gonzalo Higuain, who currently holds the leading position.

Following an initial goal by Josef Martinez on behalf of Miami, Lionel Messi subsequently found the back of the net in the 20th minute by a powerful, low strike from a distance over 30 yards. The ball evaded the extended fingertips of Union goalkeeper Andre Blake and ricocheted off the right post before finding its way into the net.

In the first half stoppage time, Jordi Alba, a Spanish senior player, scored the third goal for Miami. This marked his first goal in four games since his recent transfer to Inter. Later, Alejandro Bedoya managed to score a goal for Philadelphia with 17 minutes remaining in the match.

After 84 minutes, David Ruiz effectively thwarted any hopes of a potential late comeback by the Union by scoring Miami’s fourth goal.

In the preceding Leagues Cup semifinal on Tuesday, Nashville SC emerged victorious with a 2-0 triumph over Monterrey, so paving the way for a final encounter versus Miami.

The determination of the trophy’s recipient will occur on August 19th in Nashville, Tennessee, when the two teams engage in a face-off.

This year, the Leagues Cup, a yearly competition that involves teams from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX in Mexico, underwent an expansion to encompass the entirety of teams from both leagues.
