Kristin Chenoweth on Her ‘Nontraditional’ Wedding Gown: ‘I Didn’t Want to Wear White’ (Exclusive)

Kristin Chenoweth celebrated her marriage to musician Josh Bryant in a private wedding ceremony held in Dallas, Texas, where the actress and singer chose to wear a unique and non-traditional wedding gown.

Opting for a departure from the traditional white wedding dress, Chenoweth, 55, donned an elegant Pamella Roland gown with a sheer nude base and a Chanel pink overlay. The gown featured a striking oversized bow in the back and delicate pearl flowers that adorned the bodice, creating a subtle ombre effect that extended to the floor. Chenoweth described her gown as “simple and elegant,” reflecting her desire to maintain authenticity on her special day. She emphasized her intention to present herself as “Kristin” rather than a conventional bride and desired for her groom, Josh, to see her as the woman he had spent five years with.

For the reception, the actress changed into a shimmery pink dress, also by Pamella Roland, which echoed her ceremony dress with its oversized bow detail at the neckline. In a playful twist, she paired the reception dress with pink Nike sneakers, perfect for dancing the night away.

The wedding’s decor featured a romantic palette of soft colors, including white, ivory, cream, soft peach, blush, medium pink, and champagne tones. The venue was adorned with a stunning array of floral arrangements, including calla lilies, garden roses, majolica, spray roses, hydrangeas, ranunculus, veronica, mums, and various seasonal greenery, creating an atmosphere of timeless romance.

The wedding ceremony, held at a private residence, was followed by a delightful selection of specialty cocktails, including the “Wicked Margarita,” paying homage to Chenoweth’s iconic role as Glinda the Good Witch in the Broadway hit “Wicked.” Guests also enjoyed drinks like the “Bryant Old Fashioned” and the “Thundertini” martini before indulging in a delectable dinner and dancing.

Chenoweth and Bryant’s love story began in 2016 when they met at the wedding of Chenoweth’s niece, where Bryant’s band, Backroad Anthem, provided musical entertainment. Despite initially forming a friendship, their connection deepened over time. Bryant’s persistent pursuit of Chenoweth eventually led to a romantic relationship, and they soon realized they were meant to be.

Chenoweth, who had previously considered herself a lifelong bachelorette, experienced a change of heart upon meeting Bryant. She described their connection as something she couldn’t let go of, leading to their engagement and now marriage. Chenoweth expressed her immense gratitude for having Bryant in her life, acknowledging his role as her best friend and partner.

As they embark on this new chapter of their life together, the couple looks forward to making music together, with Bryant actively participating in Chenoweth’s band during her performances. While they reside in New York, they are also building a life in Nashville. Chenoweth expressed her deep appreciation for Bryant, describing him as her rock and expressing her feelings of immense blessing for having him by her side.
