Man United sign Rasmus Højlund from Atlanta in £64m deal

Atlanta, (Qnnflash) – Manchester United have completed the signing of forward Rasmus Højlund from Atlanta on a five-year contract, as announced by the club on Saturday.

According to ESPN’s report last month, United paid a transfer fee of £64 million ($82 million) with an additional £8 million ($10 million) in add-ons for the 20-year-old striker.

United manager Erik ten Hag has been eager to strengthen the team’s attacking options for the upcoming season and ultimately decided to focus on Højlund, opting against pursuing moves for Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.

In a statement, Højlund expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to join Manchester United, a club he has admired since childhood. He is determined to repay the faith shown in him and is ready to take on the challenge of playing alongside world-class players.

Sources revealed to ESPN that while Ten Hag initially preferred an experienced striker, he was impressed by Højlund’s potential and now looks forward to working with the young talent.

Højlund had an impressive season with Atalanta, scoring nine goals in 32 appearances in Serie A.

United’s latest signing, Højlund, follows the arrivals of midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea and goalkeeper André Onana from Inter Milan this summer.

United’s football director, John Murtough, expressed the club’s proactive approach in securing their primary targets early in the transfer window to prepare the squad for a successful and exciting campaign ahead.
