Marcelo in grief over Sanchez’s horrific injury

After leaving Argentinos Jrs defender Luciano Sanchez with a nasty injury on Tuesday during a Copa Libertadores encounter in Buenos Aires, former Brazil player and current member of the Fluminense team Marcelo was sent off in tears.

After Marcelo’s leading foot slipped off the ball and caught Sanchez in the shin, the Argentine was knocked out of the game. The Argentine player’s leg gave out from under him at a horrible angle, and he was left lying in pain on the field.

According to Argentinos, Sanchez was transferred to the neighboring Finochietto Sanatorium for medical attention, and the club promised to offer an update on his condition later.

“I had a very tough day out there today,” Marcelo wrote on Instagram.

I accidentally hurt a teammate. I hope for the best for his speedy recovery. I wish you all the power in the universe.

The Brazilian team he plays for also sent him some love on Twitter (now known as platform X) with their word of encouragement.

The statement stated, “Fluminense FC expresses its support and wishes a rapid recovery to Argentinos Juniors defender Luciano Sanchez, who sustained an injury in tonight’s game during an unintentional move.”

At the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, the first leg of the round of 16 match ended in a 1-1 tie.
