Schumer will convene an AI forum with prominent tech CEOs such as Zuckerberg and Musk.

(Qnnflash) — Over six well-known tech CEOs will attend a highly anticipated artificial intelligence event that the Senate Majority Leader is organizing, according to Senator Chuck Schumer’s office.

The forthcoming event on September 13th will feature prominent figures such as Sundar Pichai, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Google, and Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google. Additionally, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, and Elon Musk, the CEO of X (previously known as Twitter), will also be in attendance.

Schumer has announced that a series of nine sessions will commence this autumn, focusing on the most challenging inquiries pertaining to rules on artificial intelligence (AI). These sessions aim to explore many aspects, such as safeguarding employees, ensuring national security, protecting copyright, and devising strategies to counter potential catastrophic scenarios.

According to Schumer’s office, prominent figures from civil society, such as representatives from worker organizations, civil rights groups, and the art and entertainment industries, will also be present at the upcoming event scheduled for next month. It is worth noting that this bipartisan gathering will not be accessible to the press.

The seminars, referred to as “AI Insight Forums” by Schumer, aim to facilitate collaboration between industry experts and US lawmakers in order to enhance their comprehension of the field prior to establishing regulatory frameworks for AI.

Schumer has placed significant emphasis on adopting a cautious and deliberate approach to the subject at hand. He has urged his fellow colleagues to familiarize themselves with the fundamental aspects of the technology, rather than hastily pushing for the enactment of legislation. During the preceding summer, Senator Schumer organized a sequence of exclusive briefings solely for senators, focusing on the subject of artificial intelligence (AI). These briefings were notable for including a ground-breaking classified session on AI under the direction of US national security experts.

Axios revealed the initial information regarding the guest list for the upcoming Insight Forum in the following month.
