Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Launches Empower Global: An Online Marketplace to Foster Black Economic Unity

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Sean “Diddy” Combs, the renowned music mogul, is taking strides to bolster the Black economy with the launch of Empower Global, an exclusive online marketplace showcasing Black-owned businesses. Inspired by the historical significance of the Greenwood community in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Combs envisions a contemporary Black Wall Street, a platform for wealth creation and community growth.

Empower Global, which recently debuted, features a curated selection of products ranging from clothing, shoes, beauty accessories like skincare and fragrances, to captivating wall art. Combs passionately invested $20 million in this initiative, driven by his commitment to empowering Black entrepreneurs and promoting economic prosperity.

The platform was brought to life by two Black-owned companies, TechSparq and ChatDesk, reflecting Combs’ dedication to fostering an ecosystem within his community. Currently, Empower Global showcases 70 brands, with plans to introduce new Black businesses every month, reaching a target of 200 brands by year-end.

Combs emphasizes that his vision transcends personal profit; instead, it aims to build an infrastructure of unity and empowerment. The excitement surrounding Empower Global surpasses even the launch of his iconic label, Bad Boy Records. For Combs, this platform is about sharing power, supporting one another, and promoting a sense of responsibility and accountability within the community.

He firmly believes in the importance of circulating money within the Black community, citing the need to create lasting economic impact. Unlike other communities, where dollars circulate for days and support local businesses, the Black community faces a challenge, as their dollar barely lasts an hour outside their community.

Combs’ achievements in the music industry and various entrepreneurial ventures, such as Sean John fashion line and Revolt TV, have laid the foundation for his mission of empowering the Black community. However, his aspirations extend further, aiming to become a key player in Black economic empowerment on a global scale.

With a burning desire to cultivate Black economic unity, Combs envisions Empower Global as the catalyst for change. Alongside Tyler Perry and Byron Allen, he expresses interest in acquiring the network BET. Furthermore, he stands firm in his dispute with spirits giant Diageo, raising allegations of racism in handling his liquor brands.

Moving forward, Combs is dedicated to leveraging his intelligence and creativity to nurture a thriving economic system for the Black community. Empower Global is his canvas for fostering unity, empowerment, and prosperity, as he remains resolute in his pursuit of working with the best Black-owned digital mainstream brands. Together, they aim to fuel an economic revolution that will resonate for generations to come.
