This 590-Square-Foot Washington House for Sale Has No Indoor Bathroom

Imagine living in a whimsical, rustic “play structure” that’s part Hobbit Hole, part space shuttle, situated on an island in Washington State. Now, for a price tag of $300,000, this unique 590-square-foot home on Camano Island can be yours, albeit with a few quirks.

This out-of-the-box home has garnered attention for its peculiar design, lack of a bathroom, and relatively high price for its size. Despite these unconventional features, it’s already captured the interest of many. The property, referred to as a “Super Adobe” home, has garnered 11,000 views on Zillow in just four days, with more than 22,000 views on Instagram’s Zillowtastrophes account.

While it may not meet the traditional definition of a house, the “Super Adobe” home offers running water, electricity, and small modern appliances. It can comfortably accommodate up to five people, and there’s even an outhouse with a new, unopened composting toilet. A unique feature of the home is a room with a transparent ceiling, perfect for stargazing.

Some have likened the home to something you’d find on Mars if humans had to colonize the planet. It has been described as a “real-life Yoda house” by one person and a “Tatooine” dwelling by another.

However, not everyone is enamored with the idea of crawling through a tunnel to access the primary bedroom. Some have expressed concerns about the tight quarters, with one person stating, “Crawling back into the womb to sleep is a hard no for me.”

In the end, this tiny home represents a unique blend of tiny house living, camping, extraterrestrial colonization, and a private beach house. While it may not appeal to everyone, it certainly caters to a niche market looking for something out of the ordinary.
